"I have been teaching for 8 years and for the first 7 years I used the traditional overhead for most of my instruction. I began using the Avervision 355AF at the tail end of last year and this year also. It has changed the way I give out notes to the class, but more importantly I can do so many more things with the 355AF than the overhead projector. The video option on the 355AF allows me to record my own notes and play them back at my convenience. No need to worry about writing on different overhead sheets for different classes. I can also take snap shots of notes and use the split screen option, instead of showing one sheet at a time. I can easily switch between the document camera and the computer at any time with the push of a button. I have been using the document camera now for a few months, and I can't imagine not ever using it as part of my daily instruction."

"I was one of the lucky teachers in our building to use the document camera right away. I would have to say that it is one of the best teaching tools I have used in my 30 years of teaching lower elementary school. I used the document camera for a day and a half before I regretfully had to pass it on to the next grade level. During the time it was in my room, I was able to demonstrate the directions to a rather complicated (for first grade anyway) worksheet. All of the students were able to see what I was doing as the paper was being projected onto the wall, versus them trying to see what I was doing on a small piece of paper held up in front of them. We also used the document camera to discuss Daily Oral Language (DOL). During DOL I had the students who had done their sentences correctly come up front and use the document camera to show the correct responses. Since the students knew the best examples were going to be displayed, they tried extra hard as they did their work, so it was a great motivator! All of my first graders were disappointed that we had to pass the camera on to another class and asked if I could please buy one for our class....(a little out of my pocket change budget however)! "I have been the proud user of a Aver Media Document Camera for over a year now. The document camera has become an invaluable tool in my elementary art classroom. For step-by-step drawing, or painting instructions, the camera allows me to project each step of my directions on a screen, visible for every student in the class. Students can clearly see how I hold my brush or pencil and see the movements of my hand and wrist. Before I had a document camera in my classroom I would ask my students to form a large circle around a table as I demonstrated the techniques. Naturally, some of my students' view of the demonstration was obstructed or they had to look at it upside down.

With my 3rd grade students I work on a Native American project where braiding string and paper is one of our lesson objectives. Teaching 20 students at the same time how to braid materials into a decorative band, is quite a challenge, but not with the use of a document camera. Students are ready with their braiding materials and eager to follow along the movements of my hands they see with the projection of the document camera. In just a few minutes of instructions using the document camera, and of course practice, all my students are on track and engaged to complete the braiding project.

Furthermore, I use the document camera in my art classroom to teach color mixing lessons since the camera does a beautiful job projecting color. I have used the camera to show special techniques in working with clay, as well has how to demonstrate the proper use of wire working tools. The document camera is also a fantastic tool for sharing student work. Students can project their work on to the screen and share their creation with the entire class. Nothing makes my students feel so proud when they see their work projected on a large screen for everyone to admire. I take still pictures of my students' work to use as samples, or to upload to our school web site."
