Four Possible Setup Scenarios for Video Conferencing

Please pick the scenario most suitable for your network environment:

  1. Public IP Configuration (Outside of Firewall)
      > Do you have a dedicated public IP address for the AVer EVC System?
  2. Private IP Configuration (Behind Firewall with Port Forwarding)
  3. Behind Firewall with H.323 ALG Setup
  4. Gatekeeper/Session Border Controller with H.460 Firewall Traversal

Scenario 1: Public IP Configuration (Outside of Firewall)

  1. From the remote press "Home" -> "Setting" -> "Network" -> "LAN Configuration".
  2. In the "IP Address Type" line, choose "Static IP".
  3. Manually input the "Public IP address", "Subnet Mask" and "Default Gateway".
  4. Select "Apply" and press
  5. Press "Home" on the remote to return to the home menu.
  6. Press the "Call" button on the remote and you are ready to make your first call.

Scenarios 2 & 3: Private IP Configuration (Behind Firewall with Port Forwarding)

  1. From the remote press "Home" -> "Setting" -> "Network" -> "LAN Configuration".
  2. In the "IP Address Type" line, choose "Static IP".
  3. Manually input the assigned "Private IP address", "Subnet Mask" and "Default Gateway".
  4. Select "Apply" and press .
  5. Press "Back" on the remote to return to previous menu.
  6. Go to "Network" - > "Firewall" and press .
  7. Change the "NAT Configuration" to "Auto"
  8. Press the "Home" button on the remote to return to the home menu.
  9. Press the "Call" button on the remote and you are ready to make your first call

Scenario 4: Gatekeeper/Session Border Controller with H.460 Firewall Traversal

  1. From the remote press "Home" -> "Setting" -> "Network" -> "LAN Configuration".
  2. In the "IP Address Type" line, choose "Static IP".
  3. Manually input the assigned "IP address", "Subnet Mask" and "Default Gateway".
  4. Select "Apply" and press .
  5. Press "Back" on the remote to return to previous menu.
  6. Go to "Network" - > "Gatekeeper" and press .
  7. Assign an extension to the unit
  8. Enter the IP address of your Gatekeeper in the "Gatekeeper IP address" field and place a check in the "Use Gatekeeper" box
  9. Place a check in the "Enable H.460 Firewall traversal" field.
  10. Highlight the "Register" option and press to register your EVC to the Gatekeeper.
  11. Press the "Home" button on the remote to return
  12. Press the "Call" button on the remote and you are ready to make your first call

Dialing Methods

  1. Press the "Call" button on the remote to open the call options
  2. Enter the IP address in the "Call to" field
  3. Choose the "Call type" you want to use. If unsure, keep setting at "H.323"
  4. Select the "Call Quality/Bandwidth" you want to use. If unsure, keep setting at "Default"
  5. Press the Call button on the screen to initiate the video conference call

Dialing while registered to a Gatekeeper/Border Controller

  1. Press the "Call" button on the remote to open
  2. Enter the E.164 extension in the "Call to" field
  3. Choose the "Call type" you want to use. If unsure, keep setting at "H.323"
  4. Select the "Call Quality/Bandwidth" you want to use, If unsure, keep setting at "Default"
  5. Press the Call button on the remote to initiate the video conference call

Calling to a MCU/Bridge

  1. Press the "Call" button on the remote to open the call options
  2. Enter the IP address in the "Call to" field. For the MCU that allows direct dialing you can enter (example: 192.168.1.12##5678)
  3. Choose the "Call type" you want to use. If unsure, keep setting at "H.323"
  4. Select the "Call Quality/Bandwidth" you want to use, If unsure, keep setting at "Default"
  5. Press the Call button on the screen to initiate the video conference call

Troubleshooting

"DHCP service Failed" message displayed on screen

  • Verify "IP address type" is set to "DHCP" on the EVC
  • Make sure you are connected to a DCHP server
  • Verify the data jack/port is active

Video conference call is established but no video or voice

  • Verify the NAT configuration is set to "On/Auto" on the EVC system
  • Ensure the properly forwarding policies are created for the EVC system
  • Make sure AES function on the EVC is set to off

Unable to connect to other VC system

  • - Check to see if you dialed the correct IP address
  • - Ensure the device you are trying to call is powered on and ready to receive calls
  • - Verify if there is a firewall blocking inbound traffic
  • - Verify if the far site rejected the call
